Alpla Deadlines Met
Williams Tarr have achieved the programme deadlines for a 36,000 sq. ft. fast track design and build extension at the HQ of Alpla, one of the the World’s leading plastic bottle and closure manufacturers.
The scheme at Stonecross Business Park, Golborne, provides new warehouse/distribution space to make existing space available for expansion of the production facilities.
Designed to match the existing building, the extension is a steel portal frame with 2.4 metre facing brickwork and composite cladding walls and an insulated twin skin roof.
Built to the rear of the existing factory, the 9.2 metre high extension has six loading doors with hinged lip dock levellers and a new ESFR sprinkler system.
Existing buildings and concrete hard standing areas were removed and a new service yard, drainage and factory replacement perimeter road was constructed.
The ALPLA Quality Principle: “Only the best is good enough”
Malcolm Finch Head of UK Business for Alpla UK commented:
“The timing of the work had to be closely co-ordinated, as the factory remained fully functional as a live manufacturing operation during the entire project period. This was a difficult project owing to the amount of logistic transport movements on a daily basis and I was pleased to note that the work was all carried out on time and in full with no disruption to the Alpla manufacturing operational facility”
